And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor.13:13 NKJV)

Amplified classic translation put it as;
“And now faith, hope, love ( faith conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope- joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love- true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us), these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Paul perfectly gives a magnificent definition of love in 1Cor.13. It is a description of the character of Christ, and the love He dispensed to us when we were not qualified to be loved, through Him we have the indwelling of His love as we abide in Him.

The virtues of faith, hope and love are very required  and necessary as we exist in this age, but they become irrelevant in eternity as we no longer hope or have faith in what we behold, as faith give way to sight ( 2 Cor.5:7) and hope will yield to experience(Rom.8:24)
The greatest is love which alone is eternal, for God is love (1John 4:8)

Christ revealed His love for us on the cross, and as believers, we are called upon to return Christ’s love by dispensing, through sharing it with others. To love is a command, not an admonition, or appeal or advice, Jesus says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John13: 34 NKJV).

Friends, this may look like a tall order, when you think the ability to love requires your perfection or work. No, when you do this you will only achieve selective love, but this is not the love that Christ dispensed to us which gave us salvation.

Christ loves us unconditionally, so also we are expected to love our friends, neighbours and loved ones and those who detest us or hate us. Today, take a bold step of faith, take time to spread Christ’s message by word and by example, let love reflect in your conduct and deeds. Remember the greatest of these is love.
