Then the Lord turned to him (Gideon) and said, Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you? (Judg.6:14 NKJV).

How often we allow affliction and oppression to overcome us to the extent that it limits our potential such  that, we live in fears not being able to dream nor acrualise God ordained purpose for our lives

The Angel of the Lord pointed out the potentials in Gideon as a mighty man of valour through whom God will deliver His people by His enabling power.  While the Angel assured Gideon of the Lord’s presence  and callings upon the his life, he was still concerned about the afflictions of Israel and His perceived thoughts that God had forsaken them due to their present circumstances and predicaments in the hands of the Midianites.  Don’t you sometimes feel that way when things happen in your domain, when you receive reports of gruesome murders and issues of arson and  and activities of kidnappers and herdsemen? Do you think where is God, when this is happening more so to His children? Surely oppression destroys a wise man (Eccl.7:7a).

Gideon who had been hiding and blaming God for their misfortunes was still controlled by the fears of their assailant- the Midianites that he would not believe nor accept God’s grace to lead his people out of their oppression.

Like Moses who was content being a shepherd in charge of Jethro’s  farm due to the fear of the unknown. But one thing is certain God will always come to the aid of His chosen vessel no matter how long they run,  God showed up in the burning bush, (Exo.3:10). Hear the response of Moses, “who am I that I should go to Pharaoh,  and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt ?” (Exo.3:11NKJV).  Gideon too made excuses like Moses, He said ,“O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in manasseh , and I am the least in my father’s house” (Judg.6:15).

Friends, when it comes to God’s  assignment, personal ability,  position, family background must be subdued for His grace to work in you. All you need to do is go in His proclamation and depend on Him not your own ability. Whose report will you believe? Count it a golden opportunity when God chose you to fulfil His purpose in His kingdom. Our response should be total submission and obedience to Him, trusting Him provide for our inability, for God’s provision is in the place of assignment to those who will trust and obey Him.
