A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure bring forth evil things (Matt.12:35 NKJV)
Jesus made this declaration concerning the evil thoughts and blasphemy of the Pharisees who could not comprehend with His good works and miracles, but said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler if the demons” (Matt.12:24)
They spoke out of the abundance of the treasure they stored in their heart (See vs.34).
Our words, comments, reactions and thoughts concerning what we witness in others is a true reflection of our character, for the Pharisees were blinded with rage and anger concerning the growing influence of the Lord Jesus Christ, their blasphemy was not merely an utterance of the lips, but an expression of their character. The fruits we bear is also a product of our tree, for a tree is known by its fruit (See vs 33).
Friends, what are the treasures your heart? Are they good or evil? Every word that proceeds from your mouth defiles you, for the heart is the source of all evil.
(Matt.15:18-19). You need to purify your heart through the renewal of your mind. (Rom.12:2).
Hebrew is a practical epistle for the process of having your heart renewed. “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilt conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
(Heb.10:22-23 NIV)
How then can we demonstrate our love for God?
Tow the path of His salvation, by accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour, allowing Him to occupy your heart as you now have His life in you. The key to the purity of the heart after salvation is to obey Him, this an expression of your love to Jesus (John 14:15).
Today, let the fruit of your stewardship be a clear demonstration of your love for Christ, not living for self, nor comparing yourself with others. when you do this, Your heart is renewed and bring forth good fruit that manifests the true character of Jesus.
